ALEX KIRVEN

Alex Kirven practices primarily in the areas of estate planning and asset protection. The goals of Alex’s practice are threefold. First, he works with his clients to design a core estate plan that reflects their individual and family values, passes on their wealth in an efficient and secure manner, and provides for the management of their assets during incapacity. Second, Alex uses strategies such as family limited partnerships, grantor trusts, split-interest trusts, life insurance trusts, the creation of charities and donor-advised funds, and strategic gifting of key family assets to reduce family strife, litigation, and the risk of excessive income and wealth-transfer taxes both in the United States and abroad. Third, Alex works with his clients to administer their estate plans, including changing fiduciaries and decanting trusts for better asset protection and tax outcomes, and in negotiating and drafting premarital and marital agreements. Alex’s clients have included business owners, corporate executives, professionals, athletes, and families with multi-generational wealth.

Alex grew up in Wyoming and before becoming an attorney received a master’s degree in Russian and European history from Indiana University, Bloomington. Through his studies, Alex was fortunate to travel frequently outside of the United States and learn valuable lessons from all the people he met along the way. Traveling also led Alex to realize that he loved the blue skies and the mountains of the American West, and he has been fortunate to call Colorado home since 2015. In his free time, Alex enjoys spending time with his family and their beloved mini-goldendoodle, hiking, skiing, playing basketball, and trying to read all of the books on his bookshelf.
